Multi-platinum selling singer-songwriter and American Idol Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips released his new song, "Dancing With Your Shadows", this past Friday, February 10. The song hails from a currently untitled album that is set to be released this summer, his fourth thus far, which was teased by lead single "Love Like That" this past April. Phillips is best known for his Billboard Top 40 hits "Home" and "Gone, Gone Gone," both from his first album The World from the Side of the Moon.

He has released two albums since 2014's Behind the Light and 2017's Collateral. Between the three albums, he has sold over 3 million album equivalents and over 7.8 million digital singles.

Philips described the song, written by himself, Todd Clark and Quinn Lewis, and produced by Clark, as "about knowing someone so well and being able to see them fall or struggle before they do. I wrote this song during a particularly difficult time with someone in my life, and they were going through a lot. Really in a dark place. Sometimes when someone is in that place, they don't need you to fix it, they just need you to be in it with them. To dance in the shadows with them."

Musically, the song incorporates more electric elements, placing it closer to an indie rock sound than the folk sound for which he was known early in his career.

Along with the release of the single and the announcement of the album, Phillips announced a tour beginning this summer. He announced three dates in particular in which he will be performing alongside rock/hip-hop act Michael Franti & Spearhead. These three dates are June 16 at the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre in Detroit, June 20 at the Mountain View Amphitheatre in Pittsburgh and June 24 at the Levitt Pavilion in Westport, CT.

We look forward to hearing more about the album soon!
