9/11 and Asbestos Exposure - First Responders

Health & Addiction
Politics & Science

The World Trade Center officially opened on April 4, 1973, after starting construction in 1966. The World Trade Center was built at a time when asbestos was widely used in the construction industry. The events of September 11, 2001 were an unspeakable act of terrorism. The aftermath is still felt today — and not only by those who lost loved ones. Thousands of first responders to the attacks are now being diagnosed with deadly forms of cancers, including mesothelioma. Many of these cancers are linked to asbestos exposure.

Addiction Counselor - Mental Health Resources for Students and Counselors

Health & Addiction

Mental illness covers a wide spectrum of conditions that affect children, teens, and adults. Almost one in five U.S. adults are diagnosed with a mental illness. Mental illness can be broadly separated into two categories: any mental illness and serious mental illness. Any mental illness covers all mental illnesses that have been recognized to date, whether that’s occasional depression or another behavioral, emotional, or mental condition that causes upset but can be dealt with without extreme intervention. Serious mental illness encompasses conditions that are more severe, including severe versions of things such as depression. These are behavioral, emotional, or mental conditions that cause serious functional impairment, interfering with one or more major life activities.

Addiction Treatment Services by Northbound

Health & Addiction

For over three decades, Northbound has been offering addiction treatment services to families and individuals in need of help overcoming the obstacles of life. During this time, we have become one of the premier addiction treatment centers in the country. Our mission is to not only get you or your loved one into a recovery program but to find the right recovery program to help them maintain their sobriety long term. We provide counselling as well as the education necessary to guide you through the treatment options available to find where you belong so that your healing can begin. Here, we don’t push you into treatment plans you aren’t comfortable with. We know that forced treatment rarely works. Instead, we enable you to make the right decision for your situation while educating you about the cost associated and how to best apply your insurance coverage to help offset the associated expenses. We also provide referrals to resources that will help the family as well as the addict overcome the trauma of addiction and make the necessary changes for long-term recovery.

When a member of the British military retires from active service and returns to civilian life, the adjustments required can be significant.
