WOODSTOCK - Michael Franti & Spearhead will be performing at the newly MJN Convention Center in Poughkeepsie on Thursday, June 30th. The show is presented by Radio Woodstock 100.1 WDST, in conjunction with Chet-5 Productions. Appearing as special guests alongside the infectious sound and positive energy of Michael Franti & Spearhead is Arrested Development. Doors for the show open at 7:00 pm, with an 8:00 pm show time.

Michael Franti is a globally recognized artist, humanitarian and award-winning filmmaker revered for his high-energy live shows, inspiring music, devotion to health and wellness, worldwide philanthropic efforts, and the power of optimism. Michael Franti & Spearhead's latest single "Good Day For A Good Day" is available everywhere now, with plans to release a full, 12th studio album this summer. "'Good Day For A Good Day' speaks to the fact that sometimes we have to retune our minds to feel like we can have a good day because we're not always going to get one," shares Franti. "Not every day is perfect, but we can retune our minds to find those good days and good moments." With additional new music on the horizon, Franti notes, "One thing I learned during these last 18 months is that people need people. I wrote many songs, including 'Good Day For A Good Day 'about connection, resilience, and finding the light even in the midst of all the crazy. It's possible to find ease of heart. Somewhere in there, we find resilience, and sometimes in between all the disastrously rough days we get a really good one." Love always comes through in Franti's lyrics. At Mountain Jam 2011 he said, "It doesn't matter who you love. Whatever language, religion, gay, straight, black, white. Just love somebody." Michael Franti & Spearhead's hit song, "Work Hard and Be Nice," was #20 on the 2020 Radio Woodstock Top 100.

Throughout his multi-decade career, Franti has earned three Billboard No. 1's with triumphantly hopeful hits "Sound of Sunshine," "Say Hey (I Love You)" and "I Got You," as well as six Top 30 Hot AC singles, nine Top 25 AAA Singles and three Billboard Top 5 Rock Albums.

Also featured will be the multi-platinum, Grammy Award Winning group Arrested Development. It's been thirty years since a new group called Arrested Development slammed the gangsta-dominated world of hip hop with defiant lyrics of hope. They are the first-ever hip-hop artists to receive the "best new artist" Grammy (a distinction it still maintains today in that category). In addition, the group also received a Grammy award for "best rap single" for their anthemic prayer-like hit song, "Tennessee." The song has gone on to be named as one of the 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in the top 100 Greatest Songs of the 90s by VH1. Their album, 3 Years, 5 Months and 2 Days in the Life of..., earned them two Grammy awards for Best New Artist and Best Rap Single (Tennessee), 2 MTV awards, a Soul Train Music Award, and the NCAAP Image Award. Rolling Stone magazine named them Band of The Year in 1992.
