Catherine Enny - manager at Guerrilla Management - offered me to go to the gig of "The Ettes" in Berlin by setting me and my wife on the guestlist. We listened to some songs on myspace - sounded a little bit like Bangles - so we decided to go.
The Glashaus is one part of a big event area and we heard on the radio before that also "Scooter" - this "Hyper, Hyper"-Mainstream-Techno Band is there - having their gig at the "Arena" - next door. So there might be bad conditions for "The Ettes" to have a great audience.
We arrived there early enough to hear the last songs of a one man band artist - very impressive, impulsive. Maybe 100 people were inside the Glashaus.
After a short break The Ettes were coming on stage. Before they were playing any tone, Coco the Lead-Singer asked the technic if they could switch off the white light shining in her face. In a teacher way she said: "Put this light off, only red light no white light." Their songs followed always the same scheme, so I can't really tell if I liked their music live. Maybe they were diappointed having such a small audience, they were playing their music without power.
Anyway it was a wonderful evening for my wife and me. It was 1 am when we arrived at home.
