Dopapod will issue a new self-titled album on May 27, now available for pre-order. The quartet also shared the single, "Black Holes," along with an accompanying music video.

Dopapod - whose name and album titles are palindromes - follows the band's 2019 studio album Emit Time, which marked the band's first album following a short hiatus. While Dopapod's "soft return" was cut short by the pandemic, the time off, both self-imposed and out of their control, sharpened the band's focus and allowed them to reinvent themselves.

"The hiatus allowed us to redefine ourselves, and carry on with a lot of new energy," drummer Neal "Fro" Evans said. "It was a restorative opportunity and helped us move forward. We definitely came back with new energy and new intention."

That new intention included the band and their team coming up with fresh ways to engage with fans evident in a board game integrated into the LP design spearheaded by longtime team member and former lighting designer Luke Stratton, who is also a role-playing game and map designer. The game - similar to Monopoly or Life - is titled Building A Time Machine, which is also the name of the record's second track.

"We got to thinking, what if we're building a time machine that allows us to go back through Dopapod's history?" Stratton said. "In the game, each album is its own land, and every space on the board is a different song. We came up with the infinity loop concept and portal as a way to travel through the band's history."

The band's recent history includes previously released Dopapod singles "Think" and "Grow." Dopapod now follows with "Black Holes," which carries the chorus line "all for one and one for all." Keyboardist Eli Winderman detailed the latest single.

"It's a song about not giving up and thinking creatively to achieve the desired outcome," he said. "All for one and one for all is another concept that we try to tap into with improvising as well. The main focus is on the group to achieve moments of unity."

"Black Holes" arrived along with a music video directed by Curtis Peel. Watch it below:
