Before the show:
A couple of weeks before I already knew that I will not be alone here in Cologne. Ingrid and Michael - my friends here in Cologne will come to the gig and together with me on the guestlist were Anna (the girl I knew from the Beck gig in Berlin) and Toni from Barca(Catalonia), so I had great expectations for this day.
I stopped working in Wolfsburg earlier so I could take the train to Cologne at 3 pm. Got a good place, listened to the new record and wrote a lot for the review the day before.
I arrived in Cologne at 6 pm and was half an hour later at the Luxor. The doors were open and I came in the small backstage room where the guys were hanging around. We talked about the gig yesterday, traveling by train, children. I also told Michael about his little mistake he made yesterday with the year the Berlin wall came down. and he said that others had already mentioned it.
Versace would like to see the Dom so we took the underground and some minutes later we saw this really big building with all its sculptures, towers, details. We were making some pictures and also took a walk within the Dom and to the bridge over the Rhine. We came back to the Luxor at 8:30 pm
While I was drinking a beer at the bar near the doors I saw Juiceman and Anna coming in and buying tickets. I was totally surprised and happy to see them now after three years. We went outside talking. Ingrid, Michael, Anna and Toni almost arrived at the same time, so we talked a lot in front of the Luxor. Ingrid gave me a key for their rooms and described me the way I had to take. More and more people were coming so we decided to go in.
The show:
Spearhead started to play at 9:30. No one of them was in favour to be with me in front of the stage but I liked to get a similiar good feeling like yesterday so I went there alone. It was full there so I tried to get a good position without disturbing anyone. The only problem I got: There was an almost 2m - maybe 6'6'' - man in front of me. From the first moment Michael entered the stage the connection between Band and audience was made. I got a better view after I chanced my position a little bit left of the 6'6'' man in front of me. He was a friendly guy but a little bit like a stranger inside the wonderful crowd near the stage (Part 1) - not dancing or jumping, singing clapping.
Anyway - for more than 1 hour I got a wonderful view in the direction to the stage with the jumping, waving, clapping and dancing people around me. I recognized that the setlist would be the same like in Berlin. Almost at the end of the first part (SH was playing "Everybody on a move") 4 or 5 men came in front of the stage - obviously drunken, stoned or both of it - who were disturbing the connection of the audience, talking, laughing, smoking. When Michael started to play and sing one of my favorites from the new record "Hey world", they were still talking and laughing. I and some others told them to stop and Michael sang on without mic until they stopped. I got a bad feeling because I thought the whole gig would end in a disaster like MFSH wouldn't like to play with their whole energy till the end of the show but Michael got them back. The last song of the first part was "I got love for ya". In the middle of the song I left my place - I needed something to drink, so I went into the bar room for a beer and a cig. I talked with someone who also said that some of the people here are strange - also the location is not the best in Cologne. So I went back to the concert hall, saw Anna and Toni staying on the left side. I took them with me behind Versace's power amplifier where also Juiceman and "his" Anna were staying. So for the rest of the show we had a wonderful view, a good sound, a good feeling.
After the show
It was the first time for Anna and Toni to be at a Spearhead gig and they liked it very much. Juiceman also liked it, said they were making a good show. I told him about the bad boys in front of the stage and that I had a better feeling in Berlin according to the audience.
I was walking to the backstage room while I needed something special for Versace. I saw all the boys there and told Carl that the audience in Berlin was better which he submitted. Dave smiled and brought my hometown bonus on focus. Michael said they took the air condition on so the folks were not that hot like in Berlin.
Back to Versace I also saw Johan - one more big surprise. He was coming a little bit late and we talked about our fansites and a lot more. I didn't see Ingrid and Michael at the place so they were gone as they already told me before the show.
Toni and Anna wanted to drink something in the city so I decided to go with them. I asked Juiceman if he liked to follow me to the backstage to see the boys again but there was a security guard who said we can not go in there. We had luck because Carl was staying around. He told him that we are friends so it would be no problem. I was taking my package and said goodbye to everyone. So we left the Luxor, outside Versace gave a present to me. Anna and I were taking the underground to the Dom, searching for a good pub we could drink something but almost every pub was closed. We found a kiosk still opened where we got something to eat.
It was around 2 am when we said goodbye. I took a taxi to get to Ingrid's house. 30 min later I was at bed, trying to sleep 3 or 4 hours before I had to leave for a next working day.
